Bubble & Bee Organic Insect Repellent

organic insect repellentLast year, my family and I went to the Philippines for the holidays. Before we left, I spent quite a bit of time researching all natural and organic insect repellent. Of course, I went to EWG to see what I could find and most of the repellents had a score of 3. So, I looked for blogger reviews and found a couple of reviews and recommendations for a few brands.

I decided to go with Bubble & Bee Organic after reading reviews. (Disclosure: Sponsored post.) I used it on both kids and me. It was very effective. I can honestly say that when I put it on the kids, they did not get bit. Me on the other hand, well, that’s a different story. It seems that no matter what I used, and I tried a couple of different brands, mosquitoes just love my blood.

I had absolutely no qualms or worries applying this bug spray on the kids since it was not just all natural, but an organic bug spray. I sprayed it on their skin, clothes, and my babycarrier. I do have to say that there is a very distinct smell, and it’s not subtle at all. If you are like me and like the scent of lemongrass, then you’ll do fine with this spray. If however, you don’t like lemongrass, it might not be for you. My kids didn’t mind it at all, though my husband did.

The price point of $9.99 for a 2.8 ounce bottle is rather expensive compared to other natural brands on the market. However, the bug spray is made of organic essential oils which contributes to the price.

Bubble & Bee Organic offers more than just insect repellent. Its line of organic personal care products (i.e. facial care, lotion, deodorant, hair care) are highly praised and rate quite low on the EWG database. Pit putty! I’m having no luck finding a good natural deodorant that keeps me from stinking. I hate being gross!

I’d probably go with the insect repelant. It’s nice that it would not be a chemical on my body. Also even living in the city mosquitos are an issue. Every year in my area there are cases of west nile virus on the news.
