For the past few weeks, Big B has requested Taco Tuesday every Tuesday. Hubby and I have totally different approaches to Taco Tuesday; mine usually takes a lot longer to prepare than his. We received a Party in a Box from Del Real Foods to sample. The package came with the al pastor taco kit, our choice of 4 other entrées, a picnic cooler basket, and blanket.
Del Real al pastor taco kit includes
- Fully cooked al pastor (marinated pork)
- Corn tortillas
Although the al pastor can be heated in the microwave, I decided to heat it on the stove top. After all, I wanted to make some effort into making dinner since Del Real has made it super easy for me.
Similarly, I heated the tortillas on the stove. Actually, the first batch was heated on the cast iron. The second batch was heated in the microwave. The tortillas heated in the microwave were softer than the ones I heated on the stove top. I’m not sure if it’s because I over heated them or not, but they were definitely not as soft as the ones heated in the microwave. The method of heating did not affect the taste at all.
I mashed two avocados for a simple guacamole…I don’t even remember seasoning it with salt. Really, this meal was super easy to put together.
I suppose I could have added cilantro and onions, which are staples in our homemade street tacos, but I didn’t have any. Suffice it to say, no one complained. This Taco Tuesday could not have been prepared any easier. Hubby and I liked the flavor of the al pastor. It was a bit spicy for the kids, so I gave them the grilled chicken for their tacos. Of course, it was a winner as well.
