Have you heard of the Pink Ribbon Bagel? No? Neither did I until recently. Now, we are fans of Panera Bread®, but I had not heard of the Pink Ribbon Bagel. Apparently, the bakery has been making these since 2001. I guess I focus so much on Panera’s salads that I overlook their baked goods. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, Panera Bread is bringing back the iconic Pink Ribbon Bagel. If you’ve never had it, it’s made with cherry chips, dried cherries, cranberries, vanilla, honey, and brown sugar. Yeah, I’m really looking forward to trying it myself. I partnered with Panera Bread® to feature the Pink Ribbon Bagel and their support of breast cancer research.
It’s unfortunate that some companies out there capitalize on the whole pink products for breast cancer awareness without actually donating to breast cancer. As for Panera Bread®, the company donates a portion of the profit from the specialty bagel to the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation to help support groundbreaking research into the cause and prevention of breast cancer. In fact, the Pink Ribbon Bagel was created by Sue Stees, a franchise owner and breast cancer survivor. Sue wanted to find a way to help the women in her community fighting breast cancer; and the Pink Ribbon Bagel was born.
Pink Ribbon Bagel
- 9.5 million Pink Ribbon Bagels have been sold since 2001
- Over $1.3 million has been raised for breast cancer charities across the country
- More than 65 Southern California bakery-cafes will be offering the Pink Ribbon Bagel
- For the month of October, 10 cents from the sale of each bagel will go to the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation
For one day only, October 12, 100% of Pink Ribbon bagel sales will be donated to the Foundation. You can buy it by itself or in a pack. I think it’s a great way to help support a really amazing cause.
Have you ever had the Pink Ribbon Bagel? How do you support breast cancer awareness?
