A few months ago, I noticed that my scalp started to itch. It could have been due to a number of individual factors or a combination of them. It wasn’t bad that it was clinical or I had dandruff on my shirt; but it was enough of a concern for me. For the last few years, I’ve been using my kids’ organic shampoos. Although my kids’ shampoos worked for cleaning, they probably didn’t help my itchy scalp.
I’ve tried DIY homemade hot oil treatments using olive oil and essential oils without long-term relief. I realized that I probably needed to purchase different haircare products from my kids. After reading reviews, it was not that easy to select products because everyone’s hair and situations are different; which resulted in varied reviews. Some brands and products worked well for some people and not for others. As far as selecting haircare products, I use the same process to choose them as any other products. I look at the ingredients list and see what it’s made of. With respect to shampoos, I try and stay away from those with SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) and parabens. I also go to the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep database to see how products are rated.
EVOLVh sent me the luxury haircare system to try, and so far, it’s worked really well for me. The UltraShine Moisture Shampoo has natural ingredients like seaweed extract, mango, sunflower oil, and apricot. Similarly, the UltraShine Moisture Conditioner is formulated with wheat amino acids, lecithin, and Vitamin C. There are also listed ingredients that are not necessarily natural, like disodium sulfosuccinate. However, I decided to give EVOLVh a try.

The first time I used both the shampoo and conditioner, my hair felt so silky. I was really impressed and excited. Since I no longer used conditioner – a routine I quickly dropped after using SLS-free shampoos – I realized that maybe I was missing out on something. Over time, my scalp stopped itching. I was so relieved.
Both products are touted as being moisturizing, nourishing, and gives your hair shine. Did they deliver on those promises? For me, two of the three was what I experienced. Unfortunately for me, my hair just isn’t the silky shiny type. I have thick coarse hair without much luster. I’m not bummed that my hair doesn’t shine at all. The magic of these products for me is really how good my scalp feels.
Discovery of the right haircare products takes a lot of experimentation. I’ve tried SLS-free shampoos, all natural shampoos, organic shampoos, and even gone no poo. My no poo experiment didn’t go well. I’m not saying that I would never try it again, but for now, using a shampoo and conditioner combination instead of baking soda and apple cider vinegar just works better for my lifestyle. So far EVOLVh has worked amazing for my scalp. I’m not sure if it’s the the combination of the ingredients that has helped it or using both shampoo and conditioner together. For now, I’m just happy to find relief.
