October is SIDS Awareness Month. I’ve written about SIDS before and shared information and resources. One of the most important ways to reduce the risk of SIDS is to have baby sleep on his/her back. Moreover, keeping baby’s body temperature just right also reduces the risk of SIDS.
The Swaddle Design® website offers information on SIDS, as well as temperature control. Additionally, Swaddle Design® created the SwaddleClub which provides information and resources to new (and veteran) parents such as white noise and other soothing sounds for baby, swaddling information, and baby care information. I received Swaddle Design® muslin blankets for review.
Swaddle Design® swaddling blankets are the only blankets with swaddling instructions sewn right on the the blankets. It’s genius really. As a first time parent, I read how important swaddling was for the baby for many reasons, including reducing the risk of SIDS. How to go about swaddling correctly was definitely something I wanted to learn how to do. Despite my efforts, both boys did not like being swaddled, so we used the blankets for other purposes.
I’ve heard parents rave about muslin blankets. I have to say that I agree with the praise. Muslin blankets are so soft and seem to get softer after each wash. The large size makes it so versatile; from swaddling to nursing cover to carseat/stroller cover, and even for tummy time and play.
Swaddle Design® Muslin Collection
- Made with 100% cotton muslin
- Incredibly soft and breathable
- Large square size
- Comes in boy, girl, and unisex colors and designs
- Swaddling instructions sewn on blanket
- Swaddle Club label sewn on blanket
The price point of a set of four muslin blankets is $50. It’s comparable to other muslin blankets on the market. I’ve used the Swaddle Design® marquisette blanket and flannel blankets with both boys, and the cotton muslin is my favorite. It is unbelievably soft to the touch. I’ve given it as a baby shower gift to friends who are first time moms.
Did you swaddle your baby? What’s your favorite swaddling blanket?
